Ozzy SealFounded in 2007, Record Store Day is “the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music.” Many artists choose that day to make special performances and release limited edition vinyl, CD, and promotional products— it’s like Christmas morning for vinyl lovers and super fans.

This year’s Record Store Day falls on April 16 and includes special releases from RadioheadSubPop Records, and a Frank Kozik limited edition vinyl figure. The Busy Beavers are psyched about the White Stripes reissue from Third Man Records— limited quantities will be available on red and black swirled vinyl!

Looking for a unique way to promote your band or record store this April 16? Try buttons! You can include a 1-inch button as a freebie on a limited edition vinyl record, put your band’s cover art on a square button, or promote your record store. Shop now at busybeaver.net.

This week, via their website, the White Stripes announced their break-up. The Busy Beavers are huge fans of Meg and Jack; Jack White’s record label, Third Man Records, is a long-time client and one of our faves. We’re sorry to see the end of an era, but we wish Meg and Jack the best in their future projects. Here’s a look back at a couple White Stripes buttons Busy Beaver produced for their Icky Thump album:

What’s round, wood, and branded with a red hot iron?

Third Man Records partnered with Busy Beaver Button Co. to develop the world’s first wood button for their Texas-themed SXSW pop up store. It was awesome to see the branding station in action at Frank’s Groceries in Austin firsthand!

Fans brought belts, purses and wooden record boxes to burn the Third Man insignia into for all eternity, and just two dollars. A limited number of 2.25-inch round jacaranda wood buttons exist alongside the exclusive 13-inch and 8-inch vinyl records.

Being that limited edition and exclusive to Austin, this rare item is definitely, “the hardest button to button.
