Archives for the day of: December 30, 2010

Busy Beaver is closed on Friday, December 31 and reopens at 9AM on Monday, January 3.  You can still place an order online at any time though.

Be sure to pick up one of these commemorative buttons made by the Busy Beaver Design Service that says, “On the last night of 2010 I Saw Nobunny at the Empty Bottle in Chicago, Il.”

Happy New Year, everyone!

Speaking of twentieth century women and buttons, the LA Times reports the woman who inspired Rosie the Riveter passed away.  What’s that round, metal object pinned on her shirt collar?

This iconic poster includes a button.

Yesterday, a metamorphic button from the 1920s was featured with Christen’s McSweeney’s interview.  Here’s another button from the same era that flappers actually wore!  She writes,

After WW1, young women enjoyed new freedoms. They could work, cut their hair and their skirts short, booze it up, dance, use birth control, drive a car.

They often wore flirty buttons attached to their garters.

Pretty cute, eh?  Go ahead and search “flapper buttons” and you’ll see a variety of satin-covered badges.
