Little Friends of Printmaking glow-in-the-dark buttons

Question

What do nightclubs and Halloween have in common?

Answer

They are both dark places where people wear buttons.

Busy Beaver is proud to announce that the glow-in-the-dark buttons are available in all shapes and sizes for an extra ten cents per button.  Just hold the button up to a bright light and watch it glow!  Click here to see the buttons at work.

Circa Estate Winery Buttons by TANDEM>> design

Circa Estate Winery one inch buttons by TANDEM>> design agency

Remember the groovy Herman Miller Lifework buttons that TANDEM>> design agency made through Busy Beaver?  Check out their latest project for Circa Estate Winery here.

Northern Michigan is fast becoming one of the premier wine regions in the state— and the country.  So when Circa Estate Winery came to Tandem to help with a new winery concept that was a little, well, off the beaten path, we jumped at the chance to help with their branding and packaging. We developed Circa as a brand concept centered around timelessness and subjectivity. It is “anything to everybody.” Because each person and palete is different, each wine is a blank canvas—an experience all your own.

The buttons we designed for Circa reflected just that. Each button displays a different word describing wine. Customers can then take which button they feel describes them best: saucy, sweet, sexy, naive, brooding… there are over 30 in all. And of course—customers love them! They go fast, so the owners keep ordering more, and we keep asking Busy Beaver to print them!

It’s awesome to see buttons at work with wine.

Show the world that "I Met Reva"

You’re in for a prize when you meet blogger/baker Reva from the WeTV show Amazing Wedding Cakes.  She explains:

A few weeks ago we met a nice guy in an antique store in Petaluma, CA who recognized Reva from the show…and after we left we realized we didn’t even catch his name!!  So, we talked about how to handle these moments in the future to make sure everyone knows how fun it is to meet all of you and this is one of the ideas we came up with:  BUTTONS!!!

These little 1″ buttons telling the world that yes, you did indeed meet Reva, were created by the great folks at Busy Beaver Buttons.  Aren’t they the cutest?

Then, wear it around on lanyards or hats or backpacks, whatever you can pierce with a pin, you can have a button on it!  And if someone asks you if you’re a big Guiding Light fan, tell them you met a real Reva!  And send us pictures if you do get one and I’ll post it here on Happy Sugar Baking Land.

Tandem Design Buttons for Herman Miller

TANDEM>> design agency buttons for Herman Miller

When Herman Miller launched the Lifework™ Portfolio, an innovative line of home office furnishings that harmonize the rhythm and patterns of your everyday life and work, TANDEM>> design agency stepped up to the challenge. They developed the theme, “for the tempo of life,” to fit the purpose and function of the furniture. The concept was applied throughout: from product naming and pre-sale strategies to point-of-purchase, packaging, and buttons—even an original soundtrack, for a lively and lyrical brand experience.

The buttons featured activities that could occur at your home office—blending life and work together. “Ponder.” “Laugh out loud.” “Shoot rubber bands.” “Call your mom.”  “Whistle while you work.” The buttons worked on their own or as a collection—and were a huge hit!  Click here for more from TANDEM>> design agency.

Seksi Spam Buttons made by BusyBeaver.net

Some people take life’s lemons and make lemonade.  Busy Beaver and Floyd Hayes take comically mangled spam e-mail subject lines and turn them into Seksi Spam Buttons!

You can thank the person who coined the term “guerilla marketing” for this project that donates money to health charity Seicus.  You might also remember Floyd from Twipple, which spreads kindness through Twitter.

Have you seen the press about these buttons?  It’s awesome!

Button-O-matic Mystery Capsule Revealed!

Button-O-matic Mystery Capsule Revealed!

Did you know there are two mystery buttons in every Button-O-matic across the country?  David Kevin Williams is the first to find a the blind capsule.  His story of discovery:

Yes, I got one of the 25 mystery buttons, I had always been a button person, I used to pin them everywhere…and in the process of digging out old boxes for repacking I found a very old Debbie Harry button I’ve had for years and just popped it on, the fever took over right away I started wearing them all over again.  So Monday Sept 14th I went shopping at Reckless Records at 3161 N Broadway in Chicago. While there I saw the machine and decided to buy my first button for my old hobby from a gumball type dispenser.

He describes the mystery button:

I thought all the buttons featured looked cool, but I wondered why there was a empty spot with a ? mark, I put in my 50 cents and had no idea what was going on till I got home and read the paper with the ? marks on it, I got lucky! its a very nice design, temple, bug, its very cool.  I feel lucky….to take up buttoning again after a decade and the first purchase be lucky.  Thanx again for the pleasant lil surprise, its these small things that make life fun!

Tim Biskup and Jennifer Daniels each designed a special button for a limited edition run of 30 in this blind capsule.  Have you seen it?

Threadless Meet Up in Chicago

3rd Annual Threadless Family Reunion

This was a weekend for buttons with Busy Beaver at Renegade Craft Fair, Eye Spy Optical, the Chicago Underground Film Festival, and the 3rd Annual Threadless Family Reunion.

Threadless united designers, bloggers, and tee-lovers from across the country for a weekend of festivities.  Saturday included infinite button-making by yours truly where artists like Ginette Lapalme, Alex Solis, and Jillustration made 2.25-inch buttons in fluorescent pink, standard yellow, paper bag, and glow in the dark.

Artists Julia Sonmi Heglund, Philip Tseng, and tee shirt manufacturers made presentations amidst fun and games.  Threadless founder Jake Nickell attempted to break the Guinness World Record for “most t-shirts worn by a human” and made it to 166 shirts without keeling over.  Pretty awesome!
