Crafting with Busy Beaver

Crafting with Busy Beaver

Busy Beaver enjoyed the Memorial Day Holiday at Constructor Fair in Berwyn, Illinois.  Craftaholics of all ages visited the Busy Beaver Button Bar and made custom 2.25-inch buttons, bottle openers, and mirrors.  Thanks everyone!

Jen & Geoff Semler designed custom 1-inch buttons for their  invitation, shower, and wedding with four designs through Busy Beaver.  Jen shared these fabulous photos of their September wedding along with why she ordered custom buttons:

We put them in 2 little cube vases on the 2 bars at our venue and put a little sign up letting people know that they should take one as a memento of our wedding.  They were a hit!

Thanks so much Jen & Geoff, and best wishes to you both.

Ripped by Greg Kot

Greg Kot is the music critic for the Chicago Tribune and co-host of everyone’s favorite rock’n'roll talk radio show, Sound Opinions on NPR.  His new book, Ripped, debuts this week and explores how the digital revolution impacts music consumption. As a custom button company for so many bands and record labels, this is definitely a topic of interest.  Go meet Greg and get an autograph at Borders at 2817 N. Clark in Chicago on May 20th, and tell him Busy Beaver sent you.

St. Augustine’s Original Pub Tour combines Busy Beaver’s three favorite Bs:  Booze, Banshees, and Buttons.

When you visit St. Augustine in Florida, you can tour the city’s most haunted bars in a hearse.  The tour departs nightly at 8:30 from 162 St. George Street, and cruises four pubs in two and a half hours.  Jolly drinkers wear HPT 1.5-inch custom buttons from Busy Beaver.

Yet another cool use for custom buttons: identifying yourself whilst drinking in the company of ghosts.

Chicago Welcomes the Pope Buttons

Pope Pin-backs from 1979

There’s a collection of nine vintage Pope buttons for sale on Craigs List Illinois!  According to the post, the commemorative pin-backs range in size from 2.5-inches to 5-inches in diameter.  Since the Pope visited Chicago in 1979, it’s possible these were produced by Parisian Novelty on the south-side.  There’s a ton of papal buttons on eBay too.

The buttons must be pope-ular.

Kegan Sims, a true-blooded Beaver Believer!

Kegan Sims, "A true-blooded Beaver Believer"

What better way is there to start a Busy Beaver work week than with this photo in your inbox?

Thank you to Amy Charron from Oregon State University for submitting this picture of Kegan Sims rocking 1.25-inch buttons featuring Powered By Orange, a network of alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and fans who make a positive impact in Oregon and beyond.  Amy writes,

To build awareness around the campaign, Powered By Orange buttons are given to the students and staff across the OSU community that participate in campaign videos, banners and other materials. The buttons have become so popular that many academic departments are requesting them, too!

Powered By Orange includes buttons made just for kids that say, “I Wanna be a Beaver.”  Now that’s something we can stand behind.
